Langzeit-Auswirkungen auf die Lunge
A study on the health of Malaysian plantation workers (01.01.81)
Howard JK, Sabapathy NN, and Whitehead PA, A study on the health of Malaysian plantation workers with particular reference to paraquat spraymen, British Journal of Industrial Medicine 38(2), 110-116, 1981
In a study with 27 Malaysian workers who had sprayed paraquat over a period of at least 1000 hours, 11 workers had one or more incidents of skin irritation or rash, mostly on the hands, legs, and (due to leaking equipment) in the groin or on buttocks. One worker was injured in the eye. The spray solutions in this study contained 0.5% and 0.25% paraquat (highest recommended concentrations on the label). The function of the lung was tested (forced vital capacity, forced expiratory volume in one second, transfer of CO) and physio-logical parameters were measured, and no significant differences were found between the spraying workers and workers that did not spray.
