Legal status of paraquat in different countries
Several countries have prohibited or banned the distribution and use of paraquat at the national level. Others have withdrawn the authorisation of paraquat to be mar-keted or have cancelled or not renewed its registration. Regulatory measures also include limitations of certain types of use. In most countries the reason for this action were the toxicological properties of paraquat (high acute toxicity, delayed effects and absence of an antidote) and the high risk for workers who are exposed to it.
