Personal protective equipment (01.01.02)
Mekonnen Y, and Agonafir T, Personal protective equipment use by farm workers in Ethiopia, Pesticides News 55, p. 15, 2002
Farm workers in Ethiopia said that respirators and goggles were unfit to wear and a number of them did not receive any protective equipment at all. The use of personal protection was not regulated and it was not provided in a satisfactory manner. Worn out equipment was still in use that offered no protection. It was recommended that agricultural workers should be regularly reminded of the hazards of pesticides, that personal protective equipment should be supplied and used, and that the health of workers should be regularly monitored.
