International platform against neoliberal policies

Thematic areas at the WSF 2003: Sustainable development; human rights, diversity and equality; media and culture; political power, civil society and democracy; militarism and peace.
In 2001, at the same time as the annual meeting of the WEF, several NGOs, trade unions and social movements organized – with the support of the local left government – the first WSF in Porto Alegre, Brazil. This Forum aims to become an international arena against neoliberal policies. The second Forum in 2002 was already attended by more than 60'000 people from allover the world, which demonstrates the success of this project.
