UN-Norms for Corporations
UN-Norms on Business and Human Rights
The main goal behind the norms adopted by the UN-Subcommission for Human Rights in August 2003 was to have an internationally recognized set of rules for corporations. The ambivalent decision of the UN-Commission for Human Rights in April 2004 jeopardizes the effectiveness of these rules. Bern Declaration supports the norms and urges their implementation: they are an important first step toward an international legal framework for corporate accountability.
