International FAO Plant Treaty
The International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture was conceived in the context of FAO’s international undertaking and was adopted in November 2001. Its purpose is to ensure that the agricultural biodiversity of the crops nurtured by farmers over millennia is conserved and that there is equitable benefit sharing from its sustainable use.
